The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) announced the winners of the 2019 NSTA Teacher Awards program, which honors K–12 teachers, principals, professors and other science education professionals for their outstanding work and achievement in science education. Congratulations to Brockton High School’s own David Manus, Biotechnology Science Teacher, Brockton High School, Brockton, Massachusetts who was awarded the Ron Mardigian Bio-Rad Explorer Award, sponsored by Bio-Rad Laboratories.

Bridgewater State University comes to Durfee in new pilot program
JFYNet adds academic support through unique element.
B.M.C. Durfee High School students are checking off college credits in a new pilot program with Bridgewater State University.
Early programs exist throughout the state, but what’s unique about this program is that it takes place at Durfee with a professor from Bridgewater pairing up with a Durfee teacher.

With a play for children about the power of imagination and self-acceptance, Brockton High’s drama club was one of three winners of the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival, besting more than 100 other schools. With a technicolor children’s play, the Brockton High School Drama Club won four prizes at a statewide theater competition over the weekend, including a prize for being one of the three best plays overall.

A group of educators from the Jiangsu region of China recently visited Essex Tech to learn about career technical education programming. The Chinese educators also toured Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Boston and Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Bourne.
