Street art: Brockton’s Charity Guild to get a new mural through high school contest
Seven finalists were selected during show at Brockton High School.
Art director Sarah Richards says the kids at Brockton High School are used to having their work shown around the city, but a contest opened this winter offers an especially large canvas to one talented muralist.
“It’s a wonderful way to get students involved in community service and in understanding what it is that the Charity Guild does,” she said. “And we know that Brockton High School has such tremendous talent in that art department.” Read more here.

Ernie Boch Jr.’s Music Drives Us hit just the right note at B.M.C. Durfee High School
This Month Boch stopped by the school to present a ceremonial check for $10,000 but the rewards from the grant could already be heard in the music room. As the president and CEO of Boch Enterprises entered the rehearsal room, the school’s symphony orchestra started playing.
Gesturing to up-and-coming musicians filling the cramped space of the music rehearsal room, Boch said, “this is exactly why we do this. Jackie (Francisco) contacted us saying they needed some instruments and it was so compelling. How could you say ‘no’ to this?” Read more here.

Revere High School Cheer Takes Second at State Competition
The Revere High School Cheerleaders placed second in the Large Coed division at the State Competition on Sunday March 10. The team also earned the seventh highest score in the state and the highest score RHS Cheer has ever earned in a State Competition. Their strength according to the coaches, dedication, passion, sportsmanship, talent and so much more. Read more here.

With secondhand dresses, Brockton woman looks to make prom more affordable
Brockton High grad Quiara Kee is collecting prom dresses to sell at low cost to Brockton girls. All proceeds will be used for scholarships for two high school seniors.
Since she graduated from Brockton High in 2009, Kee has been looking for creative ways to give back to her city, she said. Through a nonprofit organization called Kee’s Helping Hand, she has been organizing events for local children and families since 2016. The prom dress sale, she said, is an outgrowth of that work. Brandon Gomes, Durfee grad, promoted to V.P., Asst. GM for Dodgers
The Durfee High graduate continued his ascension within the Dodgers management with a recent promotion to Vice President and Assistant General Manager.
Glenn Chatterton, Gomes’ baseball coach at Durfee says this about Gomes, “Three things come to mind about Brandon. He’s humble. He works hard. And he’s a very smart kid,” said. “Brandon is so grounded. He has the ability to climb to the top of the ladder in whatever he wants.” Not the Socks of Red, but no less proud. Read more here.
