Greater Lowell Tech students, others work to replace stolen neighborhood library
It’s about replacing Maddie’s Little Free Library, a book sharing station that was stolen recently. The original box filled with books was the brainchild of Maddie Gath, a 10-year-old Dracut girl who loves to read. Anyone passing by the miniature library could stop to take a book or leave one — or both.
When the Gath family moved to another part of town, fellow Dracut resident Vallery Miller and her 9-year-old daughter Kelsie offered to take over the library at their home on Long Pond Drive. It was from its new home that the library was stolen. Click here to learn more.

Haverhill Robotics… Student led club
Did you know that Haverhill High School is home to a thriving Robotics club? Did you know that this club is almost entirely student led? It’s true! These students are doing amazing work, and The Haverhill Journal spent an afternoon with Haverhill Robotics, volunteers, and faculty as they prepared for their upcoming regional BotBall competition.

West Roxbury Academy Wins Video Contest
Winning video to be featured this election seasonThe League of Women Voters announces that the West Roxbury Academy will have a Get Out The Vote video that 10 students put together featured this election season. Not only that, but the school will get some prize money and the students will be invited to an award ceremony at the State House next month.
West Roxbury Academy will receive the Catalyst Award, special recognition for a single school’s inspiring submissions to the contest. Read the entire article here.

Holyoke High School teacher wins ‘Music Teachers Who Inspire’ contest
A Holyoke High School teacher was announced as the winner of the Boch Center’s Music Teachers Who Inspire contest.
According to Holyoke Public Schools Spokesperson Judy Taylor, Mark Todd teaches choir, madrigal and bell choir at Holyoke High School. Taylor said in addition to teaching, Todd also devotes after-school time every year to the school’s spring musical and coaches the school’s Match Wits team for a high school quiz show. MA Teacher of the Year Awarded 2018 Mentor of the Year
BioGENEius Challenge 2018 Mentor of the Year Awardee
The Biotechnology Institute announced the winner of the Mentor of the Year Award, who will be recognized next week at the 2018 Biotechnology Industry Organization Annual Convention (BIO 2018) in Boston.
Cara Pekarcik from North Quincy High School exemplifies the dedication to STEM teaching that insures the future of innovation from generations of young to come. Cara has been teaching science at North Quincy since 2006 and was just recently recognized as Massachusetts Teacher of the Year. The entire release found here.
